To the south of the modern city, the remains of a circular wall from the 4th century B.C. bear witness to the presence of an acropolis that raises up the chapel of Agii Theodori on top of the foundations of the temple to Athena Polias, protecting memory. A modern monument, just outside Davleia on the way to Distomo, indicates the location of Schisti Odos (Forked Road) or, as it is better known, the place where Oedipus murdered his father Laius.
