Standing in a middle of the Staalmeestersbrug, you can see one of the most photographed canals in Amsterdam. However, you can also see the oldest church built as a Protestant one in the city. The year on its tower - 1614 - is marking the year in which the church was completed. It was designed by famous architect Hendrick de Keyser, who was also buried in it. The church impressed one of the most famous French Impressionist painters, Claude Monet, too. He painted it during his visit to Amsterdam, probably in 1874. Located very close to Rembrandt's new house (today's Rembrandt House Museum), it was quite an important place for him, as well.
